iBooks was promoting this one as a fun new YA book so I picked it up Couldn t even finish it, it was that bad The girls chirped all the time, the guys smirked and threw punches, and there were typos all over the place Not to mention, the author set the book in California but is clearly British herself, and didn t bother to change any of the lingo or spelling Tell me, what California 17 year old wears jumpers and trousers There was no character development and the whole thing justsuck iBooks was promoting this one as a fun new YA book so I picked it up Couldn t even finish it, it was that bad The girls chirped all the time, the guys smirked and threw punches, and there were typos all over the place Not to mention, the author set the book in California but is clearly British herself, and didn t bother to change any of the lingo or spelling Tell me, what California 17 year old wears jumpers and trousers There was no character development and the whole thing justsucked Don t read it It was like reading poorly edited fanfiction

First of all, let me say this I get it I understand why Elle fell for Noah The hot bad boy who turned into a romantic guy Who wouldn t want that I m so happy I read this book Even though, from my point of view, the movie was better this time, let s not forget that the idea came from the book And yes, the movie was 80% different A lot of aspects were changed But still, the most important things were kept And that s why I cried like a baby when I saw the movie And yeah, maybe I shed a First of all, let me say this I get it I understand why Elle fell for Noah The hot bad boy who turned into a romantic guy Who wouldn t want that I m so happy I read this book Even though, from my point of view, the movie was better this time, let s not forget that the idea came from the book And yes, the movie was 80% different A lot of aspects were changed But still, the most important things were kept And that s why I cried like a baby when I saw the movie And yeah, maybe I shed a tear while reading the last pages of the book, but it wasn t the same The movie gave me chills Elle was such a naive girl and Noah was so misunderstood But they were so perfect for each other At least in the book they were On screen, Noah was way too tall And Elle could have been prettier Still, the concept, the story 5 stars My playlist for the book Benjamin Ingrosso Dance you off Benjamin Ingrosso Fall in love Benjamin Ingrosso Do you think about me Ed Sheeran Perfect Halsey Alone Shawn Mendes Youth Favourite quote So this is what love does to people It really does turn people into saps P S Can you imagine that this obssesion with the movie and the book started because I saw the movie trailer 3 days ago on Facebook

I haven t actually finished this book, but right now, I m about to give up on it Considering it s a Wattpad story, I m not really surprised Don t get me wrong, for a story originally posted on a site like WattPad, this is good, and I m not surprised at the number of readers that it has on that site HOWEVER, I was hoping for something a little bit better than what I got Allow me to explain I didn t find this story on WattPad my mom told me about how a 17 year old had gotten a 3 book deal w I haven t actually finished this book, but right now, I m about to give up on it Considering it s a Wattpad story, I m not really surprised Don t get me wrong, for a story originally posted on a site like WattPad, this is good, and I m not surprised at the number of readers that it has on that site HOWEVER, I was hoping for something a little bit better than what I got Allow me to explain I didn t find this story on WattPad my mom told me about how a 17 year old had gotten a 3 book deal with Random House after the publishing company found her story online Because of the fact that it was the publishing house, itself, that contacted HER, I thought that what I was going to be reading would be better than what it was I m an avid Twilight fanfic reader, so I know the story of ELL James 50 Shades of Grey Master of the Universe IMHO, The Kissing Book is only slightly above FSOG in the quality of writing Master of the Universe did not impress me when it was fan fiction, and since James didn t make any changes when she actually published, I don t like the actual book either There ARE some really great fanfic writers out there, who I think would be amazing if they wrote their own work However, despite this being an original story, Reekles is NOT one of those online writers that actually has impressive potential unfortunately Her story is way too cliched Yes, most YA fiction books that aren t paranormal romances usually do have a major cliche in the plot storyline however, the cliche doesn t take up the entire story in YA books that are actually decent and bearable In the case of The Kissing Booth, it s just one big cliche that repeats itself over and over again I mean, all that happens is the following Lee and Elle hang outGuys flirt with Elle without her realizing itNoah gets possessive and beats someone up Elle gets madNoah and Elle fightNoah and Elle make up and then make outThat process continually repeats itself over and over again There s no change that occurs The constant whiplash of the two romantic leads was irritating, and for Elle making a huge deal about how she had never kissed a guy before, she sure jumped ship quickly when she slept with Noah after only making out with him once I mean, really And then, the next morning, she completely regrets it Just, ughI think I ve made my point

This book was pretty terrible For many reasons. For brevity s sake, I will limit my review to one main reason it was terrible it was written by a 17 year old girl The writing was ok I m being generous, because she is after all 17 The main problem is a 17 year old girl can t write realistic fiction realistically The author writes about exactly the kind of world that a 17 year old THINKS they live in no rules, no accountability, no consequences A world where you get want you want, just by This book was pretty terrible For many reasons. For brevity s sake, I will limit my review to one main reason it was terrible it was written by a 17 year old girl The writing was ok I m being generous, because she is after all 17 The main problem is a 17 year old girl can t write realistic fiction realistically The author writes about exactly the kind of world that a 17 year old THINKS they live in no rules, no accountability, no consequences A world where you get want you want, just by wanting it The world according to Kissing Booth warning, the examples are spoilers ish 1 Noah gets into fights all the time with no consequences Tell me a high school in the country that does not suspend for fighting Really 2 Turns out Noah who is captain of the football team suddenly gets accepted to Harvard Even though he never seems to study or worry about grades 3 Parents allow all sorts of things underage drinking Just don t do it again and hotel rooms after prom when your daughter just turned 16 4 Elle goes from never kissing a boy to sex with her best friend s brother in no time flat, all with little emotional fall out Sure 5 Noah, although violent, super controlling, and emotionally manipulative changes I blame Beauty and the Beast for this one Just be really really nice, and he will come around girls Love conquers all, especially the love of teenagers Obviously, I am not a fan I would even go as far as to say, I think it s a little irresponsible

The utter insipidity, the fundamental mediocrity of this, coupled with the fact that not only Random bought it, but Netflix made a film of it, and that millions of teens fell for it, gives me a major fright I mean Major.Thank God I regularly see several teenage readers here on GR who show a markedly higher level of erudition The utter insipidity, the fundamental mediocrity of this, coupled with the fact that not only Random bought it, but Netflix made a film of it, and that millions of teens fell for it, gives me a major fright I mean Major.Thank God I regularly see several teenage readers here on GR who show a markedly higher level of erudition

A friend is someone who knows all about you and still loves youElbert HubbardBeth Reekles, a bestselling English author, has penned a sweet and pretty entertaining teenage contemporary fiction called, The Kissing Booth that revolves around a female high school teenager, who with her bestie, plans to run a kissing booth for their school s summer spring carnival, sadly, the girl, who has never been kissed or ever dated anyone, falls a victim to her bestie s older brother s Casanova charmsA friend is someone who knows all about you and still loves youElbert HubbardBeth Reekles, a bestselling English author, has penned a sweet and pretty entertaining teenage contemporary fiction called, The Kissing Booth that revolves around a female high school teenager, who with her bestie, plans to run a kissing booth for their school s summer spring carnival, sadly, the girl, who has never been kissed or ever dated anyone, falls a victim to her bestie s older brother s Casanova charms and hence in secret, they begin their summer fling, but what happens when her only best friend for life finds out that she is dating his older brother A cheesy and cliched rom com drama is what this book has to offer, one time read, but I guess, the story could have been much better And certainly, please not a movie on this book It s a total pain.Synopsis Meet Rochelle Evans pretty, popular and never been kissed Meet Noah Flynn badass, volatile and a total player And also Elle s best friend s older brother When Elle decides to run a kissing booth for the school s Spring Carnival, she locks lips with Noah and her life is turned upside down Her head says to keep away, but her heart wants to draw closer this romance seems far from fairy tale and headed for heartbreak But will Elle get her happily ever after Elle, a high school junior, is back from the summer haze that turned her into a beautiful young woman And little did she knew that she caught the eye of every guy in her school But unaware of that fact, she went on with her days with her next door neighbor cum best friend, Lee Lee is a childish kind of guy, who protected Elle like his own sister, practically, they acted like twin siblings as they were born on the same day and at the exact same time So together, they plan a Kissing Booth for charity on their school s spring carnival But to Elle s surprise, who has never been kissed before, found herself kissing the guy whom she had a crush on like forever, and that is, Lee s older brother, Noah Now Elle and Lee made a bunch of childish friendship rules when they were kids, so dating or kissing or sleeping with Noah would be big no no for Elle and Lee s friendship Anyhow, Noah and Elle begin to see each other secretly, but hell breaks loose, when Lee finds out about their relationship What will happen then The author s writing style is okay, not that great The plot lacks emotions, hence the readers will fail to connect with the characters and their emotions The dialogues are crappy and way too cheesy, no one, especially, no teenager now talk or communicate in this fashion ever For realistic dialogues, refer to the book, 13 Reasons Why As a whole, the story is too been there, done that kind, it s a very common story, when a girl is falling for her best friend s brother But what the book lacked strongly was the true essence of friendship and its bond between Elle and Lee, instead of shedding too much light on the immature teenagish love story between Elle and Noah The characters are not at all close to reality, they lack honesty in their demeanor I felt like reading about a bunch of fashion models who happen to be fictional So many elements and layers lacked in this book, especially the cast of parental characters, who are supposed to play a strong role in the life of these teenagers, and the transition from having a mother to having no mother in the life of Elle is pathetically depicted in the book Like I said, the characters lacked to show any kind of emotion, only teenagers action high on their hormones But hey, if you want to re live your teenage summer days blazing in the afterglow of the summer sun and a hot crush s kiss on your lips, then do grab a copy of this book now, as the author has vividly painted the summer days and how teenagers waste it high on alcohol, parties, kisses and one night stands PS The movie is as pathetic as the book, so don t waste your time in watching it on Netflix There are better shows and movies streaming currently on Netflix, avoid The Kissing Booth at any cost Verdict There are other better contemporary fiction available in the bookstore, that need your attention, but just not this one Courtesy Got this in a giveaway
