Croce performs his typical polemical arguments but this book fills an important role in humanizing a literary figure who has become too much of a literary deity

Benedetto Croce was a major prolific Italian philosopher of the first half of the 20th century and a representative of idealism He was an authority in aesthetics of which this book on Dante's poetry is an example I gave it 4 stars only because I haven't read it yet
