I don't generally like Harleuin books they're not meaty enough for me yet somehow I always end up buying Harleuins and not realizing it until I get the book home And then I don't enjoy them But I was actually excited to read this because I like medieval romanceI also liked the cover and I really liked the image on the back which shows the MCs having a good ole timeWhen I started reading this I was pleasantly surprised I liked the characters and side characters finding them well developed with seemingly little effort on the author's part Their interactions seemed natural and amused me and the leads intrigued me I love marriages of convenience especially when they involve two strangers who have to overcome their differences before falling in loveThat definitely happened here Roger was kind of a blustering jerk but it was evident that he only acted that way because 1 he thought it was expected and 2 he sometimes had to cover up his own confusion and insecurity He had slept with one of the servants before he was to be married but before the wedding even took place he told her their liaison had to end So he was pretty decent at heart even though he didn't know how to act at timesOne thing that utterly dumbfounded me was what the heroine did on their wedding night She view spoilerdidn't want to sleep with him so she concocted a plan to drug him After the drug took effect she cut her finger to put blood on the sheets ripped her clothing and rubbed the wine on her skin to look like bruises When he woke up she told him that he hurt her and showed him the bruises He was aghast Since he couldn't remember any of this since it didn't happen he went around for several days believing he'd beaten her when he had never hit a woman before hide spoiler

This bookwriter is very very goodit is exciting from beginning till the endLady Mina not so beautifull has to married with the cold hard and demanded Sir RogerHe dont believe in love only in obediencefrom his wifeBut Mina wants respect and will get itbut it is very hard to get from someone who never in his life was told what to do or not And what to do if love is in the air? This book is just like Connie Masonit gaves me tears in my eyes

I remember that I uite enjoyed this book when I went through my historical romance phase back in the old days But now that I think back on it I know that were other books that I enjoyed than this one I'm not saying this was a bad read but after a uick browse I know I'm remembering things wrong

I did not like the format of the book The book that preceded this about Mina's sister in law was wonderfulMina starts out leading Roger to believe he raped her so that set the tone for me and I found it hard to really get past that
