A cute little collection of some very short stories The stories were so brief it was a little hard to get into them You could see how Binchy may have eventually spun these into longer novels

I have wanted to read short stories and to try audiobooks and found The Homecoming and Other Stories on Overdrive via my local library system I'm not enthused by Binchy's novels yet I uite enjoyed this short story collection and the different narrators The time spent with them slipped by and I found the arc of the stories uite skillfully completed and each is memorableI have found short stories to be an ideal introduction to audiobooks as the genre seems especially suited to the audio format and will continue to seek out recorded short story collections Recommendations welcome

I use the library for the majority of my books and sometimes I am on a waiting list for them Then there are times that a whole group becomes available I am saying this as I have read many Maeve Binchy recently and some of these short stories are part of some of her larger novels but from a different viewpoint

I have loved all of Maeve Binchy's books They are not always easy to read but have a sense of reflecting on real life situations Thus I was thrilled to find Homecoming I listened to it while I worked out and then it ended I had to a little research to realize that it was only about an hour The stories were very well written and I enjoyed them but I would have liked a better ending that just the abrupt stopping of the download

  9. Dorothy Dorothy says:

I find Maeve Binchy's books to be great 'comfort' reads This is an anthology of 4 short stories all of them concerned with the characters we have met in her novels It is rather nice to have small bites rather than a long novel but I found these stories a bit simplistic and not as satisfying as her longer works

  10. Linda Linda says:

Four subtle and heartwarming stories from a beloved author Each of the stories is read by a different narrator including Kate Binchy who narrated the audio version of many of Maeve's novels My favorite story is Telling Stories in which a prospective bride has to manage the fears of her groom the night before they are to be wed
